Service Pits

Service Pits are hazardous environments and lighting has to be functional and uniform to allow personnel to carry out maintenance on the undercarriage of vehicles.

Challenges Faced

Intense human activity makes maintaining required task illumination, whilr minimizing glare and reducing shadows, difficult. Corrosive chemicals and gas fumes also means the chosen lighting solution must be explosion proof and conventional blast proof solutions, whether fluorescent or point source, are generally glary.

Recommended Solutions

TIR's Service Pit Light Pipe has been designed to counter these challenges. Its linear design enables uniform comfortable lighting, with light being diffused along a light guide to provide glare free and shadowless task illumination. As a sealed system the light guide provides a long continuous line of light which is resistant to chemical corrosion, explosion, impact and can be easily cleaned and maintained.
