The IRIDIS Light System has a six-inch (150mm) diameter extruded aluminum light guide that is robust enough to withstand the harsh industrial environments found in many web inspection applications. Light from the 400W metal halide luminaire at one or both ends of the light guide is emitted through a one-inch wide aperture. Application specific optics within the aperture produce highly intense and uniform light tailored to the material and scanning geometry. Lamps provide up to 15,000 hours of life and are operated with high frequency controllers with feedback sensors to maintain stability over time. The IRIDIS system is available in standard emitting lengths from 24" up to 120" in 12" (610mm to 3m in 305mm) increments. All systems are provided with simple two piece mounting brackets for easy installation. Lamps are maintained off the web at the ends of the light guide by releasing four latches to remove the luminaire housing.
